Set Your Puppy Up For Success!
Puppy classes are open to dogs under 6 months old and are based in Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield. Some of the basic commands and training we work through are:

- A solid marker system
- Recall
- Loose lead work and the heel command

- How to effectively use toys and food in your training
- Commands that useful at the vets/groomers such as stand, chin and how to desensitise to vet checks and nail trims.
- As well as some fun commands too
Once you have booked in you will be added to a WhatsApp group with the other class attendees and all videos taken in class will be added for you to check back on.

Is puppy class right for you?
Puppy class is for dogs under 6 months old. It is for owners who want to set their puppy up for success and learn the basics in building a perfect family pet from lead walking and recall, to correct socialisation and settling.
Puppy class is not the right environment if you want to work on behavioural issues such as resource guarding, aggression, separation anxiety, reactivity or something more complex. Please contact us if you are experiencing any of these so that we can give you further guidance.
Commonly asked questions
- How old does my puppy have to be to attend classes?
We accept puppies up to 6 months old – the reason for this is generally over 6 months old we start to see more adolescent behaviours that are better suited for 1-1 sessions. - Can my family come along to class?
Yes!! Your partners and children are more than welcome to come along to class- we love it when everyone gets involved with the training. - Are classes held inside or outside?
We prefer to work outdoors as this is a more ‘real life’ environment around real life distractions and situations. However we do have access to an inside space if the weather is poor. - What will I need to bring to class and is there anything specific you would recommend?
A list of equipment can be found below with links. We will also include the link to this page over to you once payment has been made. - Do you cover specific problematic behaviours like nipping/biting/jumping up/toilet training?
Yes! We do! However we will discuss the very basics as a group and give you guidance on how to prevent these behaviours but also how to correct them and teach your dog more appropriate behaviours. Anything more in depth would require a 1-1.
If you aren’t sure puppy class is the right environment please contact us.
When you are booking a puppy class, you are booking a 6 week course that starts on the available date on our bookings page, payable at the point of placing the booking. If for any reason you are unable to make any of those dates listed within the event, please don’t worry, we send videos and updates into your Puppy Class WhatsApp group so you can catch up ready for the next class.
