Lucky’s Paws
Lucky’s Legacy Rescue

Lucky’s Legacy Rescue is a UK registered charity that supports the rescue and rehoming of dogs in Romania. I founded the charity back in October 2018 when we were looking to adopt a dog and stumbled upon overseas charities. I reached out to a couple of people about adopting or fostering a dog but knew there was more I could do. And so, the journey began! We started working with a shelter out in Romania, Lucky’s Legacy Rescue in Romania and the rest as they say is history. We received charity status in May 2020.
The 100% volunteer run charity is a huge part of why I am a dog trainer and is something I am incredibly passionate about. It has grown massively since 2018. Our ethos is responsible rehoming and supporting the dogs as much as possible before, during and after they find them a home.
We assess the dogs thoroughly prior to rehoming and have an incredible network of volunteers who physically go out to Romania to support our partner shelter; DoGood Romania. The assessment process is only part of that volunteer programme and also includes socialising and exposing the dogs to new things. In addition to this we have a thorough and well-rounded rehoming process with the aim of knowing both dogs and adopters well enough to make that perfect match.
In addition to this, Lucky’s Legacy Rescue funds a continuous spay and neuter campaign that has seen over 3000 dogs sterilised since 2019. It is incredibly important that we actively reduce the stray cat dog and cat problem as well as rehoming dogs to forever. As of June 2024, we have rehomed more than 500 dogs.
My own three dogs are from Lucky’s, and I have also fostered a number of dogs in the last few years. It is incredibly rewarding and has provided me with a wealth of knowledge as well as a huge amount of happiness.
